…The events of September 11 were perhaps the most violently catastrophic in a decade, which Time magazine, in its December 7, 2009, cover story called “The Decade from Hell.” It was a decade that began with a disputed election and ended with the severest economic downturn since 1929, one that economists and journalists began referring to as “The Great Recession.”
